Details About Mylos

Destinations » Mediterranean » Mediterranean - Eastern » Mylos

To most people, the island of Milos is known as the place where the statue of Venus, now in the Louvre Museum in Paris, was discovered. It is only recently that tourism has noticed the beautiful beaches of this Cycladic island, its rocks and clear waters. Milos is "the Island of Colors" thanks to its splendid, manifold beauties of volcanic origin. Milos is the most western island of the Cyclades.

Activities

  • Located in the centre of Plaka, the capital of Milos, the archaeological museum of Milos was founded in 1985 and is housed in a beautiful neo-classical building. The museum has many archaeological findings which represent the history of the island since the Neolithic age.
  • The beautiful island of Milos Greece is surrounded by amazing beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters and fine sand that can be golden, grey, white or red, depending from the beach. The diversity of the colour of the sand is due to the volcanic landscape of the island which has also created unique white, red or brown rock formations.
